He has Made Me Glad
As you can probably tell, the holiday bustle has really been majorly kicked in. And I feel nothing has happened. This is a beautiful time of year, yes; but between Christmas shopping, Marmee's work, and school, I feel like I've missed the bus and am running by the seat of my {skirt} everywhere;) I sound like a mom.
But G-d is good.
This blog is supposed to be a day-by-day record of what G-d is teaching me... but as that's been pretty impossible lately, I just don't know exactly what to say.
First off~ I am going without any make-up for the next week. Probably for the rest of my life. I've been pondering it a lot lately, and this post was part of my end resolution. I'm not addicted to make-up. Yes, I want to to look nice, but I don't want to put on a fake appearance. I've been learning lately that I am a piece of G-d's artwork- made in His image. Why should I cover up what He Himself gave me? I'm not flawless, but I think that make-up has been giving me a little bit more self-consciousness. I'm not naturally timid, but onlya few months ago has G-d freed me from my self-consciousness around other people. I'm His child. He'll always love me, even when I don't deserve it. Beautiful. Besides, I want my future husband to love me for who I am, not for how I look. I mean, wouldn't it be weird if I woke up one morning and found him putting make-up on his face in the bathroom?
*ahem*
Anyways...
Secondly, I've been figuring out my weekly schedule with my Marmee. So far, I love it. It has everything I {must} do, plus everything I {love} to do on it, such as a time slot for gardening, creative writing, productive free-time, reading time...
I only have one more week of the usual school classes before a two-week Christmas break... a welcome break, believe me;) On another note- it's supposed to rain tomorrow; you can see the clouds gathering out my window right now. The cluck just struck four, and it's white out. And bleak. While I love blue skies, cloudy weather always adds a cozy appeal... especially in winter. Pure joy.
Thirdly~ I am in the midst of figuring out the art of crocheting. So far, I am at work an a scarf in this lovely fluffy yarn in a pink, autumn gold, and brown mixture- I really like it. We've been doing different types of handi-work in my room while listening to audio books. Currenly Chasing Vermeer, by Blue Balliet... art and mystery combined? Grace-Hope's captured. She's weaving a deep purple purse on her lap loom; and Alexandrea's knitting in a yarn similar to mine with different shades of blue. She's on her second scarf of the weekend=)
We've been playing with our neighbor girls, Devany and Preston a lot lately=) They're beautiful girls, just Alexandrea's and Grace-Hope's age- and so much fun. The newest hobby among the five of us is movie-making. We've spent a few hours the past two days shooting for a little trailer- lots of fun. The jist of the trailer is a sort of game show. We're pretty much crazy people from all over the world;) Grace-Hope and I were cowgirls- she from New York; I from Mauritious:-) Alexandrea and Preston were from London and Paris- adorable city girls dressed up as though they walked right out of a 1930's novel... hats, cute skirts, and white blouses. Devany was the "host." She wore a straw hat and dress. It's super cute=) We're thinking about putting on Little Women. But who knows...? ;)
Lastly, I'm playing with/pondering on the idea of starting a new journal of letters to my future husband; and G-d, in case it is not in His will for me to get married {but believe me, it is the dearest wish of my heart to become a wife and mother}. Yes, I've started writing letters to him; but I think it would be nicer to have them all in one place. We'll see.
Well, I'm done. Thanks for hearing me out=) How have you spent your last few days- and how do you plan on spending your break?
