Coachella Styling: Boho Chic
I travel a lot, and consider a few different cities home, but I grew up in the Coachella Valley area (or at least am on and off here), and have become absolutely used to the question/statement, "You live where?!"
"OMG. So you've been to Coachella, right?!"
..but no.
The music festivals are one of the biggest floods of our economy, and bring along with them what is probably the end of our springtime season.
...but no. I long to be enthusiastic and enter into a hidden kinship that comes with saying, "UM YES," but it's just never been at the forefront of my mind come each April, and unfortunate or not, I can't tell. First, I just don't want to spend the money - even if you tell me it's a great deal, which I'm sure it is. Secondly, I'm just not quite sure how well I'd be able to handle the crowds. Don't get me wrong; I absolutely adore people, and crowds of them. Just not in such tight capacity (that being said, I'll gladly hop on a subway during rush hour in NYC. Perception is key.) However, one of these days I will go - just for the experience. This year I found out (too late) that LANY was going, and I would have probably tried to go just for them because those people are geniuses, the end.

On that note, while I'm running around (working, teaching, blogging, the works) in the valley during the music festivals, the styles can't help but make me wanna run around living my best, most free, twenty-something-year-old life. Boho-chic is one of my favorite statements in apparel, and it comes to all different veins of life. In a sea of booty shorts and crop tops and rainbow hair, a few wardrobe pieces I saw making a comeback this year were two piece sets (all about those), and the bralette-and-skirt combo. Quirky and colorful makeup are always a festival thing. Timeless trends consist of polka dots and all of the flowers you can possibly master in your (more than likely bubble-gum-pink) hair. With some of my favorites involved, why wouldn't I want to stylize something too?
Thankfully, I had the opportunity to work alongside a relatively local shop, ShopLux, based in the Riverside County. They specialize in soft prints, dresses, and have great spring to summer to autumnal styles that cycle year round. Stylized off of many on-trend Coachella styles and vibes this year, makeup inspired by local artists, and handmade flower and iron headpieces - here's some inspiration for upcoming music festivals, and perhaps even Coachella next year.
