Pocketful of Sunshine

Guys have it so easy when it comes to color pallets. Red is red, green is green, blue is blue, and if they don't happen to care for it, they just don't wear it. Girls? Not so much. We love different coloring and all the shades in between. We don't just have purple, we have lavender, royal purple, periwinkle, mauve, and orchid (and about another hundred shades that I'm sure exist but just don't know right off the top of my head).

I wrote a post in the last year or two called A Study in Yellow, because that color's always been one of my favorites (alongside lavender, of course). I associate it with sunflowers, lemonade, and car washes; but unfortunately, I knew in my heart every time I tried that I was definitely not destined to wear the yellow I love. Oh well. I accented with it to my heart's content, and admired its golden shades every time I saw someone who could pull it off well. Then The Icarus Account, who is one of my favorite bands in the history of ever, wrote this song.

It wasn't until recently when I was scrambling through a bin that I found this particular shade, and got really excited, because holy cow it's my color. Spoiler alert: it is an x-small men's shirt. Because sometimes, yes. It's worth it.

It takes just one accent color to build an outfit around, and so that's what I do. Whether it's with black pants, white pants, denim, pullover sweaters, etc., that one pop of color adds so much to what would normally be a very black-and-white staple wardrobe for my life at the moment. Hence, the yellow shirt. What's your staple color - favorite or otherwise?
