Perseverance and Fortitude

I was assigned to look up two words (Perseverance and Fortitude) for my Key of Liberty class that my Mom teaches. Here are my two cents on those two words:

Fortitude

"Fortitude means strength. It means determination, and resilience (meaning spirit), and endurance. In all these words, though, there is one meaning, and that is of courage.

Fortitude: strength of mind that enables a person to encounter danger or bear pain or adversity with COURAGE.

“Patience and fortitude conquer all things.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Perseverance

Perseverance means persistence. It means determination, a resolve, diligence, and can even be defined as stubborn. Perseverance is commitment, hard work, patience, endurance. Perseverance is being able to bear difficulties calmly and without complaint. Perseverance is trying again and again.

Perseverance: steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., esp. in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.

One thing I have noticed: Perseverance quotes point out the one big factor that set the successful people apart from the rest - the quality of being persistent. More Perseverance Quotes

There are also many verses in the Bible that talk about perseverance:
