- by faith -

listen.

"By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God."  // Hebrews 11: 8 - 10

When He calls...we go. Wholeheartedly. Without question. Because I don't know my life. I don't know the city I'm going or coming into. It's the trust in God- our Master Builder - that brings us there. To rest & surrender. Though it may look scary, the next step? It may be our promised land.

One of my favorite quotes is from Frederick Beuchner: "The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet."

And yet, as I was reading the Hebrews Scripture, it was reiterated to me that that deep gladness isn't as intense in some situations as in others. Abraham was called to discomfort, and yet I'm sure in his faith He had joy in the Lord. We are called to be uncomfortable for Him, but because He is our Savior- and He is, we are capable of having that deep gladness. And the world's deep hunger? That's our purpose. The two colliding bring about a deep peace from Him whose peace passes understanding,  and the beauty emerges as we emerge from our comfort zone.

by faith.

He's calling you & i to so much more.

He's calling us into our promised land.
